I think, on the whole, most people who sit down and think about it come to the uncomfortable conclusion that the bombing of Dresden was genocide. It was the deliberate bombing of a civilian population center. Now, the argument has been made (and continues to be made) that bombing the city denies the enemy of resources

If you read Vonnegut's retelling of it in Slaughterhouse-Five (he was there), you'd say yes.

According to Kurt Vonnegut who was a POW and survived it in a slaughterhouse and then later wrote a novel about it, yes.

yes, it was not a military target. same goes for the firebombings in japan.

Oh I have no problem believing in Jewish boosters for Trump. There are clearly Jews out there who are happy to get in bed with anti-Semities if doing so will achieve some of their foreign policy goals. I mean, Trump himself is significantly more popular in Israel than Obama was. It’s the particular biography of this

I’m certain the entire Fox News mothership on Sixth Ave. is working overtime to eliminate her from the discussion right now, because God forbid they ever accept any blame for the crazies that listen to them*.

So filing a false police report is worthy of 16 felony counts? Can't wait to see BBQ Becky get the same treatment.

Maybe Smollett has since come out and said “yes I did this” but I’m not unconvinced that the claim isn’t legitimate. Especially since the Chicago police are not strangers to massive corruption.

That’s just the sort of joke that Shakespeare would play (if sentence diagramming were a thing in the 16th century).

Depeche Mode did that and so did Queens of the Stone Age--they had presales in waves, and you were able to sign up early if you bought their new album. I thought that worked extremely well.

I’m in favor of shooting, killing, and eating any and all persons engaging in this type of automated mass reselling. It may be a short-lived program, but I think it would really help our society get over this hump until alternative or lab-grown proteins can be profitable.

Yes, I completely agree. And it’s incredibly frustrating on every level. Thanks again for your thoughtful comments! I miss normal conversations :/

What is AOC planning to do for the people who live in uncool places in this country? She’s willing to push for 15.00 an hour Walmart jobs. Is she willing to push for funding for a new tech program at East Mississippi community college? Is she willing to push Apple or Amazon to put a new campus in Tupelo?

“In other words, AOC backing progressive primary challengers is supporting the best way to save our country.”

Fellow Revolutions fan here. Much like in 1848, the people leading the political end of the revolution tended to already have financial security and were only willing to take change to a point, but not go as far as the rest of the populace needed to, say, not starve to death or be locked up for criticizing the

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I just get nervous when people place their faith in one person to fix everything—like a Jesus figure—because it means people start checking out, when any sort of real change requires strategy and focus.

“unless Democrats slowly only elect true progessives”
I was listening to the last episode of the 1848 revolutions on Mike Duncan’s “Revolutions.” The 1848 revolutions failed for a whole bunch of reasons, but a big contributor was the splintering of the liberals with the radical left, which paved the way for

These aren’t just some office admins dealing with a new hire, they’re elected officials in one of the most powerful governing bodies in the U.S. who can command tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars in fundraising from various corporations, some more savory than others.

I think the worry is that AOC will be successful in attaching the “extreme” policy ideas of Single Payer and Going Green to the platform. Imo, this is something the left should absolutely do. But, by doing so, they would essentially make the left the enemies of some pretty powerful moneyed interests.

And this is the problem with a two-party system. Ocasio-Cortez cannot save the Democrats, any more than moderate Republicans will save the GOP. Until that inner-circle of elites on both sides gets the boot (which corporate interests who support them will never allow to happen), she will have a really hard time passing
