Hard not to be dismissive of a writer who refers to Joe Porcaro as "one of the lunks from Toto."

If someone's been married for a while (and happy in that marriage), I can imagine that it could be incredibly difficult to be suddenly single again.

Another great Xenakis piece: Eonta for brass and piano. For another French-Greek composer whose music is COMPLETELY different, but kind of whacky, check out George Aperghis.

I'd put Jon Miller (KNBR/SFGiants) in the general vicinity of Scully as a great baseball announcer. What I love about Miller is his willingness to embrace humor and outright absurdity in a broadcast, especially when playing off Dave Flemming. I wish he could do some national games like he did for years at ESPN. He's

I love seeing more Rhea Butcher! She was so great on her brief stint with the now-defunct "No You Shut Up."

Yep. Definitely something directed to people familiar with PFT already. I just watched it a second time and laughed just as hard.

You're right about this special needing more time. His expansive style is not well served by the forced brevity. Nonetheless, he did the absolute most and best with what he had.

I love Paul F Tompkins and I loved this special. I know few other standups who have such a mastery of storytelling.

Herbie Hancock - Headhunters. Badass cover, badass music.

Doctor Who fans seem a bit unhinged. Yet another reason why I only watch the show and avoid any of the fan discourse.
