Live-service, baby. They want to sell $10-20 Battle Passes each quarter, plus a few cosmetics on the side, and then a paid expansion next year probably.

I mean this in the nicest way, understanding the incredible pressure from management the team is under and how that can lead to a lot of bad compromises and decisions.

damn OW2 straight up killed OW and the OWL, it’s completely dead from the cultural zeitgeist

Pachter himself is fucking incompetent.

I’m as opposed to this merger on general, “Industry consolidation always hurts the consumers in the end.” grounds but like...

Who ever could have imagined an Eli Roth helmed project with Randy Pitchford being involved would be a disaster of a mess?!?!?!

This has to be a Yves decision, it’s so uniquely bad and stupid with Skull and Bones still not having a launch date all these years later.

I guess D4 really did bring a massive new crowd to the ARPG genre that has little to no real experience.

It’s Quinn so I don’t feel bad for a second, dude is a total loser.

Watching Twitch try to figure out how to make money without pissing off the very people who make them money or the viewers who also make them money is very fun.

So I’ve ignored FaZe or whatever...fuckin how did they get so big with member who are regressive manchildren?

Wild how much has changed in a decade. A decade ago (or so) BW was a powerhouse brand putting out banger after banger, with a brand so strong EA was slapping it on random studios like Bioware-Victory and Bioware-Mythic (both of which are now long-since shuttered, with Mythic becoming Broadsword).

This is not a bug, this is a feature.

Bobby told Mike Ybarra that his teams need to start making money, and Mike Ybarra said, “Yes daddy.” and now we have this hilariously overmonetized game that exists because people will spend the money to make these prices work.

Has their social media team ever purchased electronics? I thought everyone just hung onto those boxes for like 15+ years just in case. Or is this not standard behavior? Because this article is telling me it’s apparently standard behavior.
