Yeah, fuck me for wanting more for sports game fans than what they're getting right now. I mean, how the fuck could my entitled ass even imagine of hoping that sports games end up being bi-annual installments at full price with DLC roster updates in between so that fans get more for their money.

It died long, long before engines or hardware were capable of anything close to photorealism.

There's a difference between a game, and an art style. Not sure if you're aware of that, chief.

Honestly, I'd expect a yearly "DLC" pack for existing games at a dramatically reduced price (like $10) that updated rosters and stats. And ever 2-3 years, a new installment with a whole host of improvements ranging from additional graphical goodies to improved/overhauled systems, and new features.

Because a little part of me hopes that we can start expecting more out of developers than what the sports side of the industry has been delivering (or Call of Duty, for that matter).

Well, FMV is pretty much dead, and that sprung up in my lifetime. It's not unreasonable!

Considering I don't enjoy Minecraft to begin with, I don't think that would change much.

K, brah. I guess paying for roster updates every year is fun : D

Simple low-res textures placed over existing 3d models. I can't consider something set in a 3D world to have pixel art.

Minecraft is not pixel art. Hyper Light Drifter is pixel art. Proteus is essentially pixel art. Both games look gorgeous. Minecraft looks like fucking balls.

Nope. But I also don't watch porn with ugly people in it, I try to stick to having attractive folks in my porn. Because like, granny porn is still porn, but I highly doubt that would do it for me.

Maybe, but I don't even remember liking the aesthetics when I first saw Minecraft when it came out.

Colors. Colors everywhere. I like this.

Hahahaha, as if there will be any meaningful or noticeable differences with this years installment of sports franchise games.

It's not about the graphical fidelity, as I have no problem whatsoever with games with low graphical fidelity (I quite enjoy a lot of pixel games). It's just something about the blocky aesthetic and the character models used that just rubs me the wrong way. I can't properly elaborate on it, which is frustrating : /

Did I say all voxel based games? No, I said the Minecraft aesthetic, which this game has. Planet Explorers looks pretty awesome outside character models. Then you have Everquest Next/Landmark, which I think look gorgeous with their voxels.

I'm not asking for photorealism, though. Hell, I think that's pretty boring. I'm simply commenting on how I find the Minecraft aesthetic odious beyond all belief. Give me a pretty game without all the ultra-HD visuals like Alice: Madness Returns, Shelter, Hyperlight Drifter, or one of the dozens and dozens of other

Voxel games don't have to look like shit and have boring ass art styles. Check out Everquest Next/Landmark. Voxel games can be quite gorgeous.

I have nothing wrong with voxel games though (which I'm not sure if this is or not). I mean, look at EQN/Landmark. I think both games are gorgeous and love the art style, and they're both voxel games.

I find it to be vomit inducing. Other folks like it, but its use strikes me as beyond lazy (can't be bothered to come up with something interesting, even if it's low fidelity or even pixel art or whatever)and looks terrible. But then, subjective opinions and all that.
