It is indeed hilarious how many of those ‘anti-socialism’ states are utterly dependent on socialism to stay afloat. Who do they think pays for the multi-hundred-million dollar paychecks that McNoChin brags about getting for his petty state of Kentucky? Yeah, exactly. Predominantly California and New York. Without

It’s fake jake and you know it!

I think it’s smart, because it’ll be a funny enough joke for those familiar with that run, and it’s not like they’re adapting any of the elements that truly pissed of Spiderman readers at the time.

How long before the Mephisto discourse starts up?

As if the Cross Bronx Expwy doesn’t already have enough shit to deal with. It’s hilarious that they have a big fight at one of the worst highway merges in the city (possibly the country).

Only in theaters? We'll see what Delta thinks of that.

I didnt get it that way.   I thought what they did was set it up so that she knew her revenge had consequences.  Not only Cosmic ones, but personal ones, because she had to betray Loki, the only being she had a connection with since she was 7 (ish?).   After she killed him, the only thing was “well  ..  now what?”

Thank you! People don’t know wtf they want. If it’s a big honking magical laser battle it’s bad, if it’s a philosophical/psychological discussion over consequences and ethics it’s bad or boring. Can’t win with some people. IMHO that final resolution of this show where they were just talking, was great and a hint of

She gets to kill the person in charge of the TVA, but then there’s no satisfaction, no what’s next, no real catharsis, she just has to deal with it.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Yup. That entire “final battle” was psychological. Loki and Slyvie were at each others throats, and at any moment it felt like one may kill the other.

It’s odd to me that the people whining about a bigger arc not being at the core of WandaVision a la Mephisto, then shitting all over the big “Marvel style battle” at the end are the same people hating on the more thoughtful and arguably massive Kang reveal at the conclusion of Loki. I could watch Jonathan Majors sit

Elsewhere I saw some people complaining about the monologuing, but I loved it. In just this one episode he made Kang (who I didn’t know that much about before) a far more interesting villain (....or many, many villains...) than Thanos or Ultron ever was.

This version of Kang was just a nerd who became a tyrant kind of

I don’t know he seemed weary, excited, awed, scared, and resigned all that same time to me.

I was very much disappointed with this as a final episode to the season (I feel there should have been one more after this to at least somewhat wrap SOME things up), but nothing bad can be said about Majors’ performance. The man is an incredible actor.

He Who Remains is almost certainly the MCU’s play on Immortus. He’s doing the thing Immortus was always doing - tending to the timeline and “pruning” it so nothing got out of hand (i.e. nothing to threaten him) and has pretty stark, conflicting viewpoints with the Kang the Conqueror version of the character. Neither

He Who Remains is possibly Immortus, or possibly any one of Richards many other variants, but the character of Kang is a very specific variant that we haven’t met yet in the MCU.

Also, now more and more I wonder if What If...? is going to just be a fun series of different ideas, or if it is going to explicitly have some sort of multiverse arc, now that this show has officially opened that door.

Kang. Immortus. He Who Remains. I cheered when I saw Jonathan Majors face. Sure, we all suspected but seeing it confirmed was such a “YESSS!” moment. Sure, unexpected twists can be fun but so is delivering on foreshadowing.

his true identity is immediate and familiar—Kang.
