Completely agree.
Completely agree.
I think some of the “muting” is the result of it being a PG trailer.
Not in the slightest. That’s a cheesy line belonging in a generic superhero flick. It doesn’t fit in the setting of this franchise, at all.
Now, if we can stop complaining about complaining about whitewashing (seriously, the whitewashing supporter complainers were a million times more prevalent and obnoxious than the anti-whitewashing people), we can probably finally focus on the quality of the product, itself.
While I was watching I was just thinking “Hmm, I wonder what percentage of this is actually her instead of CGI”.
That’s exactly the problem, like Hollywood shouldn’t go whitewashing the role, Japanese shouldn’t have gone all out Japanese cast on an internationally diverge story such as AoT.
I wouldn’t go as far as to say its racist, but its just something thats going to keep a good movie from being a great movie. Its just not a good design decision.
Last I heard, both Masamune Shirow, and Mamoru Oshii are really liking what they’re doing. When the series creator, and the director of the original movie are both digging it, they must be doing something right.
Right? Its the voice that gets me. Everything around her is asian influenced design, asian people, and the narration is just plain old american.
That was... good. That was REALLY GOOD.
I’m more upset with how she *sounds* out of place. Her voice is too... ‘weak’, I guess is the word I’d use. The major’s always had the rocksolid voice of a badass in the various adaptions. Emotional content was always subtly hinted at; but here her voice is so laced with it that it feels really out of place for me.
Visually this looks great, but ScarJo’s voice is worryingly very monotone in the dialogue they chose. The Major is not that monotone. :|
The effects, robots ect. looks amazing. The rest sounds/looks kinda bland. Will probably wait until some sort of bluray/download before seeing it.
Have you seen the original? It’s well worth checking out, and a great introduction to the anime style. Also see “Akira” and “Appleseed”
Speaking as someone who doesn’t watch anime...this looks really neat. I’m in.
Ghost in the Shell was pretty Blade Runnery. As was the Matrix. Full circle perhaps.
In my experience with this site, when you say “troll” you mean anyone who has a opinion on this that is different from your own. Even if they are being civil, respectful and calm. People lie from time to time, for various reasons. Men can lie, women can lie, Christians can lie and Muslims can lie too. There are many…
Beware of the trolls, people. Do not respond to them, or you’ll bring them out of the greys, and everyone will have to look at their hateful language and deplorable ideas. #basketofdeplorables
