they do license it out, I am a tech at a freight company that has lots of Freightliners, for what I hear is a $2000 yearly license per diagnostic computer, a hard pill to swallow for an owner operator.

when you loose a marker light because an ecu fails, and you can’t read the codes for the multiplex, yes you are locked out of FIT. Why I dont like new cars. Mutiplex systems suck!

i know if an ecu on the multiplex system on a Freightliner fails (and they fail quite often) you need the Freightliner software to set up the new ecu that was replaced. so yes, you are locked in to that software as for Freightliners

I live in the area, seen this old lady several times, her back is arched 45degrees, and refuses rides from everyone, always walks long distances. the train crosses are quite busy, the lady really had an Angel looking out for her.
