I'm a quadriplegic, I would not be able to read without portable formats. Many disabled people rely on tablets to read. The Tablet is necessary for touch as well as accessing other apps to help with reading & research.

As Deckard said it is more for the gait of the animal. For a four-legged animal, cheetahs in particular have a unique gait that is somewhat different than a dog. so maybe the gait of a cheetah lends itself better to that of a robotic design than a dog's gait?

He probably changed the rear sprocket & gears in the box to keep it high in its rev range. So yes, probably really short in first few gears.
