I didn't mean to come off that way. No question, plenty of cray to go around

What is particularly grating is applying the term "identity politics" to the specific ways "identity" actually impacted the 2016 Democratic politics. Latinos shouldn't be deported by the millions. Blacks shouldn't be gunned down in the street by cops. LGBT people shouldn't be arrested for using a bathroom. Muslims

Yyyou realize that it's okay to be old, no? No? Sure sounds like no. To think otherwise, and to make derisive assumptions about a group, is called bias, and bigotry. Perhaps you have not only heard of such things but believed them to be the province of old people. Irony!

Agree, and coming full circle I think that aiming for crossover appeal is the biggest flaw of "Looking," not that it apparently buys them much. Every character in the show is looking for true love in the heteronormative model. In actual gay life many men want this, many more say they do, and most IMO want — and have

Most the gay projects that break out have a straight element, "Will and Grace" and "Brokeback Mountain" being the best examples. I'm not saying this is due to bias or for that matter even restricted to gay content.

1. HBO relies on squishier metrics like prestige and viewer satisfaction reports, so raw ratings matter less. As long as you feel good about having the option to watch "Looking" when you're paying your monthly cable bill, they don't really care whether you actually do.
