I think AiC's first post-Layne album was better, but they both suffer from a lack of songwriting dynamics.
I fell into that trap at the time, but it was already clear by the time Purple came out that STP was very far removed from what other so-called mainstream grunge acts were producing.

I'm admittedly outside the target age of the show by a few (um, 5 or 6 maybe) years. But I have watched a handful of episodes, and BMW struck me a a pleasant, serviceable sitcom and nothing more. But people talk about it as if it's at the level of prime Seinfeld or Cheers, and I'm mystified.
