Nobody ever seems to mention the tires that are made for up to a 8" wide wheel are being stretched across a 10-12" wheel. This exceeds the safe mounting width from the manufacturer. I would wager that the engineers that make the tires know a bit more than the jamokes who stretch the tires across the absurd wide wheels.

I didn’t think speed runners were about 100% completion so much as they were about completing it fast. There are folks that are about 100% completion speed runs.

No more than any other part of the load up and secure process when done properly. It’s a dangerous job working on the side of any roadway with all the distracted drivers out there.

Well, the picture that used to accompany that post showed a BMW on the trailer and a trailer with no fender and tires on one side. Not sure where the pic went.

Again we return back to amateur hour. Properly equipped wreckers have a set of wheels and bars that combine to form a dolly. Not as convenient as a flatbed, but does the same job. Most “tow truck drivers” refuse to use them because it is “work”. He’s in a wrecker so he can just snatch with the bar and never get out of…

The same goes for a full size spare. All it takes is a little sidewall rub and some rubber dust inside to make that tire a hazard. Even a little ring run into the sidewall on the outside is enough to fail it out.

Trailer tires are not to be trusted. They will fail and do so spectacularly. I find that it is best to always check the pressure and to just ditch them once they reach 5 years old. All that sitting/inactivity just contributes to their aging and deterioration. I’m very surprised that it didn’t wreak havoc on the side…

Fender let go? If that is the case I would seriously check that whole trailer over well to ensure it is not weakened from rust or some other defect.
