I don’t exactly understand why, either. I’ve sat in convertibles that had perfectly functional flip-dimming mirrors. Explain?

I grew up in the area, spent a lot of time on metrorail and metrobus. It’s definitely a great way to get around.

Ultimately I think that comes down to the region being a collection of independent municipalities who did the best they could (or less, sometimes..) as individuals without the means and/or the foresight to realize eventually they’d be better off working together to plan transit across a vastly larger region.

DC is the worst of all, because it’s super long, and mostly in cars.

I’m with you. I’ve always seen “OK” with naked eyes in the water, and never been extremely bothered by chlorine (after hours in the pool, sure my eyes are irritated - but it’s not an acute and direct reaction). So, didn’t realize my lack of irritation wasn’t the norm. Also didn’t realize others saw so terribly

Well Gee, maybe “troll” isn’t a default explanation for people failing to grasp the variety of ways different people are effected by something? Hell, that failure to relate beyond your experience is pure human nature.

People frequently confuse “This defies my understanding of physics” for “This defies reality.”

A few weeks ago we hear the sirens go off; first the volunteer call, then the fire trucks rolling out.. And racing right towards us. Pull up out front, one truck turns up our back road. Now I’m really curious, go run to the back door and look up the street.. Neighbors had a small campfire going in the middle of their

I know this is a late reply but I’ve been doing a bit of research on this topic after the in-law’s house was hit by an out of control car.

Last time I drove in D.C. I narrowly avoided a ticket for a similar situation. Those low, wide streets covered in trees right up to the road edge, I didn’t spot the cop approaching from the cross road until we were both right on top of the intersection (but me about half the distance as him). So, gun it through on my

No, the child’s mentality is in thinking you’re special enough of a law abiding citizen that you get to play cop too, controlling what actions others take. If someone else breaks the law (riding the shoulder) with no negative impact to you (no, watching them pass you is not a negative impact), you don’t get to do

If you don’t think that a slightly nerdy, slightly impulsive, possibly not thought out idea is feasible for Tesla, you may not have been paying attention to their leadership.

How useful are the extra channels on Portal, really, given the low penetration and low adoption of 5Ghz? ie - Not a ton of your neighbors will have it, not a ton of non-WiFi devices generate 5Ghz interference, and what 5Ghz signals do exist don’t travel half as far before being attenuated by obstacles. So it seems a

And therein lies the real problem. Tesla accurately named their autopilot feature because they’re familiar with the meaning of the word. They overlooked public perception of the word however, not realizing people would take it to mean “This fully autonomous system can drive a car without human input” rather than “this

Seems more like he bought what he wanted to be sold and ignored what they told him.

“Tradition.”

The shop screwed up by doing repairs that the owner didn’t authorize but deciding to cancel the warranty seems reasonable.

Be happy you got this much review. This is the Giz shopping channel (Gboard twice suggested shilling instead of shopping, hah), not an in depth review site.

When I say a feature is a gimmick I don’t mean nobody uses it or likes it - just that it isn’t something that’s going to stick around for general use. Will there always be colored bulbs available? Sure. Will some people always enjoy them? Yep. Heck, will I buy a few and use them here and there? Sure.

Color is an excuse to attempt to justify the high price tag. In the long run I’d bet money warm/cool white switchable and dimmable bulbs become the norm down the line when smart bulbs become as abundant as dumb bulbs. In the meantime it’s a gimmick to make you feel better about spending $45/bulb.
