I grew up in the area, spent a lot of time on metrorail and metrobus. It’s definitely a great way to get around.

Ultimately I think that comes down to the region being a collection of independent municipalities who did the best they could (or less, sometimes..) as individuals without the means and/or the foresight to realize eventually they’d be better off working together to plan transit across a vastly larger region.

Color is an excuse to attempt to justify the high price tag. In the long run I’d bet money warm/cool white switchable and dimmable bulbs become the norm down the line when smart bulbs become as abundant as dumb bulbs. In the meantime it’s a gimmick to make you feel better about spending $45/bulb.
