No really, they can't. If you have a balcony, that's an "exclusive use area," and while they can be a pain in the ass about appearance, color, and other bullshit regarding your antenna, they can't enforce any policy that actually interferes with or prevents the installation and use of an antenna or dish for receiving

Also not sure where you got that, but it isn't the first time I've heard it from someone, so you aren't alone in that confusion.

Home networking. It doesn't apply to everyone, but often once you get a few computers and media devices around your network, you might wind up moving as much traffic internally as externally. Personally I've got HD movies to stream to a few different HTPCs and any of my desktops, music to stream to any of my PCs and

It doesn't do anything other than what you see - no weather detail, integration to the calendar / alarms / etc. I'd suggest Beautiful Widgets or HD Widgets as far superior ones. Pretty sure you could theme Beatiful Widgets to look just like that, too.

Me too. I try to remind myself that most everything Brent said about the 1st gen Transformer isn't really true - badass IPS screen, most unique look of any of the current gen tablets, fast as hell.

I'd love to see a good writeup on making kefir.

$80 bike umbrella you say? I see the beginnings of my bicycle powered ultralight.

My in-laws have an old Westinghouse Mobilair - real classic, they were made 30s-60s but I don't know the vintage of theirs. Ran like a champ with no major work. Only flaw was the powdercoat wearing out and metal rusting, so we gave it a good cleaning and repainting a few years ago, looks as good as it works now. Moves

Actually, the only good thing I can say for the Dyson is they make a hell of a lot of air noise with no discernible motor noise. As for a quality fan besides the Dyson, not sure. Kind of ridiculous - There's no way I should have to pay hundreds for a Dyson to escape the shoddy $20 big-box store quality. Where's the

It wouldn't burn up because it's far too massive. It will burn, yes - but not a significant amount.

You're right, the other points are still valid. I love my Kindle and read almost exclusively ebooks these days, but my wallet is in trouble anytime I set foot in a book store - can't resist the allure of real paper.

The obvious point is that you can't throw the environmental card out there that easily in defense of physical books. Considering paper manufacturing (dirty business) it's likely that a paperbook consumes more energy in creation than most people use reading that same book in electronic form on a kindle. Desktop —

Cast iron is funny thing, sounds like everyone's got a technique that works. Personally..

You're comparing numbers from two different experiments that tested different things. The "4 times" data point comes from raising larvae in proximity to fish. The 11%/2% figure comes from exposing larvae in the process of metamorphosis to fish.

This. I've read comments from web comics who certainly aren't in as much demand as RMS to this effect, and I think Kevin Smith makes mention of it in one of his "Evening With" events.

Taken individually they aren't unreasonable requests, especially when you consider they're being given to people who are voluntarily purchasing / soliciting his services and providing for him during the event.

I've been under the impression that the Vibrant, along with all members of the SGS lineup, has Gorilla Glass.

My understanding of the gorilla glass weakness is that it's susceptible to edge-on strikes. Most androids with it seem to wrap a bit of plastic or other forgiving material around the edge to cushion that weak aspect.

I use dollar coins a bunch, but only at work - our vending machines spit them out for change if you insert a $5. Don't use much cash outside of work, so sure - I'm for it.
