The father is the one who posted this to social media not the teacher. The teacher sent the image through a private app used to communicate with parents about what is going on In he classroom. And yes their was consent from parents at the beginning of the year to allow the teacher to take photos of the kids.

Sadly, we have a culture where it seems like this is just accepted. I feel like this should be brought up though. I think the idea is less “leash” and more to pull them up so they’re on their feet and hold it with a little bit of tension so the kid is helped to their feet but can still propel themselves on their feet to learn how to walk (in theory).
Excellent point! Of course they should not have “coincidentally” picked the black girl to play the tethered child, they should have realized that the photo would be problematic with or without context, but most of all, they should not be posting children’s photos online!
