Actually its because SMW allows you to throw shells up, while New super doesnt, and therefore limits the tricks you can do. That and Wall jumps end up being a hard trick to work around in New Super (IE its hard to make something cool without putting ugly spikes everywhere to prevent wall jumps.

I personally love it. Like I enjoy not only learning hard new Mario tricks, but mastering them to the point where I can eventually just pick up this level and Beat it first try. But that is just what I consider fun in the game, getting better in crazy ways. To each their own, ya know?
