just came here to say I love that username.

I have family like that—and we’ve done the same thing. GAH. I wonder if it’s generational? You hit the nail on the head—they are purposely looking for reasons to cheap out on the tip. UGH

I’ve had to explain ‘that’s...not how it works’ to an extraordinary number of people. All of whom are surprised by the information that, by and large, all the server does is rant about the lack of tip and/or note while making their roll-ups and then goes home and has a bourbon. People. Why are you like that??

It’s the note thing I don’t understand. Like, if you’re going to be a classless human-shaped jerkwad, just do it in silence. If you’re not going to tip, just walk away. There’s no need for “feedback” like this. You’re unhappy, you shared the misery, your work here is done.

I had someone leave me a note at Red Lobster that said “Hopefully, receiving no tip from us teaches you that you should not be so flippant with your customers. We did not appreciate being called “folks” and “guys”. Refer to your customers as sir or ma’am in the future.” Dude, you’re at RED LOBSTER. I was wearing a

“and the dog was afraid to enter the ballroom” This is an issue I have with my ballroom ALL THE TIME :/

“My Transparent Roommate,” Sundays at 8 on TLC

That title sounds like a TLC reality show.

I have to disagree, respectfully. For example, when motives are things like extreme politicial or religious beliefs, I think its important to expose exactly what that type of mentality reaps. Out of the horror of the shooting in Charleston, a much-needed conversation happened about “Southern pride” and ”heritage.”

LIVE! Killed LIVE and on the air! We now have people being MURDERED on live TV. We have CHILDREN being murdered in their classrooms. Nothing gets done. We, as a country, through our inaction have said this is A-OKAY. Just another day in the beautiful United States! Let freedom ring and god bless America and her guns!

I am honestly sorry you had to watch that video, Anna, because I will not be. This is just horrific.

It sounded more like a “go back to Africa” type comment before I knew. I’m still offended, though, so it's cool.

Trump’s thin-skinnedness is probably his biggest weakness as a politician. His horrific beliefs aren’t bad, his insubstantial policy objectives aren’t a problem, but the fact that he can’t laugh off or dismiss even the gentlest criticism is going to be deadly for him. He’s not always going to be in a position where he

it me

The other night, I blasted INXS’s Kick from beginning to end and was reminded of Christmas, 1989. This was the year my parents bought me the album on cassette because my across-the-street neighbor, Mandy, owned it, and she, her sister, Nicky, and I used to listen to it all the time and I NEEDED IT SO BADLY, mostly

There must be kind of law that when you mention the artist, the likelihood of a thread becoming a reiteration of a song’s lyrics becomes 100%

Yeah, when I was a teenager in the 90’s I knew about the Beatles, The Doors, Blondie, David Bowie, you name it, AND I also knew about what was going on in the current scene. I thought that people who dismissed earlier music as “old” were losers. Know your roots man, know your fucking roots.

That’s because kids smoke the e cigarettes today, Roberto, and thus the lines “I’ve got one hand in my pocket, and the other one’s flicking a cigarette” do not properly resonate with them as they did with angsty 13 year old Mori.

Good thing you’re here .... to reMIIIIIND them...

Do these people think that’s a teaching moment? Like “oh, I’ll show you, server person, with this super unnecessary comment on the check”? Because all it teaches me, folks, is that the world would be better off if you were eaten by dragons.
