Fair. I'm no lawyer either - really I just heard a discussion between two screenwriters about this, and I'm assuming that, as screenwriters, they would know how to cover their bases. From their discussion, it sounds like Murphy has his bases covered.

The only good reason I can think of for setting Homecoming in the future is to allow Spidey's next appearance to be Infinity War (which will take place in the then-present) and not have to skip his junior year for the solo sequel, which would also take place in the then-present. But IW is next year, so they jumped too…
