I hear you on the family member cards. I never understood the point of the ones with the little shields on them. They’re comically small and don’t convey any additional privileges. My flimsy old card worked just fine. It all boils down to the person who issued the card and your connection to him or her.

I had the Autotech “Power Module” in my ‘89 16v. I never really felt a difference, but it sure looked good in my rec.autos.makers.vw.watercooled signature. I sold it to offset the cost of a G60 Corrado donor car, from which I swapped the Digifant I. I’m kind of missing that car right about now.
