I definitely get the “open secret” vibe from this.

Jezebel badly needs to do an actual primer on this. The alleged rape is said to have occured in 2005, right after she signed with Dr. Luke. At that time, she tried to get out of it. Then, about 3 years later, she was living in her car (she actually used to crash with the HAIM sisters) and shelters, until doing a

All of these are “disguises” O’Keefe has worn in his “undercover” “journalism.” (Did I miss any scare quotes?)

BTW, Illinois’s income tax rate has been 3.75% for two years.

It’s notable that Kelly has frequently disputed Clive’s recollection of those meetings. She claims she fought for SUBG to be on the album, and pushed for it to remain rockish. There’s a demo on YouTube (sung by Robyn), of what the song sounded like before KC got it.

It’s increasingly more difficult, because the Kemosabe and Sony’s firstlook deal at all of his songs (They get first dibs on any song he writes) ends in 2017 IIRC. On the whole, his label, just like basically every artist/producer-run label, has been a financial disaster and will be scrapped first chance they get.

They about-faced during the hearing and said that was on the table. Their refusal to allow her to work with other Sony producers was why they were brought into the proceedings.

There really needs to be more reporting on the other female artists on Kemosabe. Look at Luke’s history even going back to the Since U Been Gone days. It’s young woman after young woman that he grooms, and if they don’t catch fire, they’re dropped in the trash heap and he tries again with a new one. Lesley Roy, Sabi,

Dr. Luke’s history is littered with the careers of discarded young women who were his pet project at one point: Lesley Roy, Sabi, Kesha, and GRL for starters. The number of artists who worked with him (some forced by their labels) and ran screaming to the hills after is growing. (Bonnie McKee, Kelly Clarkson, Pink,

I’m encouraged that the social media outpouring from artists finally started today. Lorde, Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Bleachers, Lily Allen, and more are tweeting about it. (KC’s was especially shady and delicious.)

And never release music again, probably.

I’m incredulous about this number, and want to know what return they’ve gotten from her so far.

They’ve got her locked into release conditions as well. So it’s 6 albums on their terms.

Sure they’ve spent $60 million, but how much have they already made off of her? They’re not $60 million in the hole from promoting her. They’d be more than willing to keep her in contract lockdown. At least no one else could make money off of her in the future. Hell, look at Jojo, who was in limbo for 10 years based

She can, but the power of labels is immense and they can actively sabotage her behind the scenes. They can wink at radio to not play her songs, not do things like buy banners on iTunes, promote an artist that competes with her, etc.

I’ve heard anywhere from 8-10, but people might/might not be including the two she’s released when they report the number.

Anyone who actually believes Sony would promote and support her for the remainder of her contract (which I’ve heard is as long as 10 albums) and that they wouldn’t immediately bury her career and all traces of it, I have a bridge to sell you.

Now playing

My grandma had a bunch of VHS tapes with cartoons of children’s books, and they were TERRIFYING. I can still quote this one almost by heart.

The time for my most recent transfer from Venmo to my bank account ($125) was 6 days. That’s garbage.

And his reason for joining the Avengers can be exactly the same as in Priest’s run.
