I never really liked the idea of paying dues. The person who earned the position should get it. The only issue for the person issuing the promotion is dealing with everyone who did not get it and that part I can understand. Playing the work political game is hard and annoying... :(

I just bought some leather boots and went through the process of waterproofing them. Only took about 30 minutes and it was pretty easy. It does change the color a little bit (depends on what product you use) so keep that in mind.
