Not even limiting the scope to sports, yes, it's terrible here, though the broadcast media is slightly more terrible than print.

So, now you are trying to sell the idea you've never heard of "The Curse of the Bambino"?

Gremlins and The Natural have held up. Ghostbusters has its moments, and is certainly an iconic film. I hated Temple of Doom when it came out; never saw The Karate Kid, Star Trek III or Police Academy.

It was a funny argument when George Carlin made it ("Tap dancing isn't a sport; I rest my case"). Obviously, Curly Haired Boy is no George Carlin.

Sorry to be pedantic but it's the University of Oregon.

I find that difficult to believe. You read a sports blog. Shaughnessy is responsible for making well-known one of the most famous sports myths in history ("the curse of the Bambino"). While he somehow escaped the Fire Joe Morgan treatment (RIP, my favorite site ever), Shaughnessy's name isn't unknown in these parts

Hey, Whitey may have been a murdering thug and a snitch but he was our murdering thug and snitch! :)

If a seat-holder in Darwin's waiting room wants to willingly put himself in harms way to potentially remove his genes from the pool, I am strangely okay with that.

It does seem a big incongruous with the profile they are trying to maintain and promote. I can't imagine Whitey Bulger abiding that shit. Old-timey Irish gangsters put these wanna-bes to shame!

Jez, Gawker and Deadspin's Screamer all did stand-alone posts about Hope Solo yesterday. Not sure what else there is to report at this time.

I only just found out, courtesy conversation regarding "World's Hottest Mugshot Guy" (personal opinion: uh, no), that the teardrop tattoo was a gang thing! They do not teach such things in Catholic school. I thought it was just a way of self-identifying the wearer as someone with horrible taste.

The more I think about it, the more Hernandez comes across like the Homer Simpson of criminal.

Hey, it never hurts to check; tone and intent aren't always easy to divine online :)

In twenty-two years of driving I've never had a parking ticket, so I would have zero idea as to the gang demographics in your average jail/prison. However, I imagine his defense regarding the attack on another inmate would be that it was an attack or be attacked situation, i.e.: self-defense.

If he's convicted, he can get up to five years in prison and I will be among those keeping my fingers crossed that's exactly what happens.

Oh, don't forget the other circus in town: Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Last month, there was an arrest of a very minor figure related to the brothers and our esteemed local news media broke in with live coverage sometime after seven a.m. (the guy was arrested in an early-morning raid) and multiple stations remained live on the

(In any case, I'm still not sure where this info. came from about them claiming the travel was too much - did Deadspin read another source but not link it? Did TMZ change their article? Did I miss something somewhere? Or did it just get made up? It's certainly a valid argument for a defense attorney to try, even if I

"I read about it on DListed and rolled my eyes."
