While you have a lot of valid reasons to prefer other models, it’s still important to distiguish “need a subscription” from “need a subscription for 4k”.  Those are very different things.  There’s a lot of people who don’t care about 4k for various reasons, not least of which is not being able to see the difference

Stadia just announced excatly that.  They are adding intergration to internet-enabled TVs in a couple of weeks.

You don’t have to subscribe to stadia to buy and play the games.

I have no desire to buy an Xbox or a powerful PC and I have a PS5. I’ll be using this for exclusives.  If it runs anywhere as well as Stadia (Stadia’s tech is absolutely fine) I’ll be plenty satisfied.

It’s only cool if the other megacorp does it, right?

The message was “all platforms except Sony”, so I presume it includes Stadia, since “all” referring to two platforms is really weird phrasing.

Hey Zack, you mentioned RE7 but not RE8, which it released at the same time as everywhere else.  Any reason to not highlight that?

It does in fact have RE8. It was available at launch with a free Premier Kit and everything.

What are you talking about? Resident Evil Village came out there the same time as everywhere else.

When asked for comment on their platforms, bosses at Sony and Xbox admitted, “everything is terrible. Don’t buy our products.

That is how it works, but that doesn’t mean it’s how it should work.

That why this model is flawed. Either put it there or don’t. Let us buy a license and stream it permanently even if it leaves the subscription side of things. Anything but this arrangement.

Man, that onerous $0 subscription is really killing my wallet.

You don’t buy games on Steam either. You buy a license to install and play them. You don’t have ownership or rights there either.

Basically none of that is the case:

US Only, though. Any non-American users are out of luck until next year. I was hoping to not pay $80 (and still won’t, knowing this is coming eventually) on ACV and Immortals.

Nit entirely clear on why you say that.

I don't even know what to tell you. It's good. I like it.  I can't give you a further argument.

I’m on board. I’ve been playing Stadia since launch in parallel with my PS4 and it’s been great. All else being equal, I actually prefer the Stadia experience.

I’ve been to restaurants that have test menus for exactly this purpose.
