You’re lucky to have gotten a good silver! My grey is just “transparent”... It’s not silver, pewter, steel, or aluminum, it’s more like fishing-line. The upshot of this is i can put in any semipermanent neon rainbow hairdye I want and it looks great. Maybe in a few years it’ll settle into pewter or something more…

Yeah, it sounds like choosing & using a stylist is, like, a choice that carries massive social weight & responsibilities, and you have to constantly cultivate the stylist as well as the other customers, and get used to sharing your entire life with them. The cost of men’s haircuts has stayed flat, along with wages. By contrast, the cost of women’s haircuts has kept pace with the steadily rising cost of living.

Lol I’m an engineer, which makes me eternally thankful I don’t have to face public customers or anyone who gives a crap about my hair or has power over it (but let’s *tawk* about male-dominated). This is why I was shocked by that price, btw.; I haven’t been in a salon since 1989!

Someone encouraging you means you should NOT go back to dyeing! Remember, one single dyejob means a year of growing it out. Also, women need to be encouraged to wear grey.
