Good point. It's less of an issue now, but back when dial-up was common and low-bit rate was the only show in town, the difference was audible.

I already miss pictures and liner notes and art that I can HOLD. When CDs disappear, a huge part of the music experience will disappear too.

I agree, CDs sound better than MP3s and I can hear the difference EASILY.

"I never considered that use of technology as theft, though I suppose it was at least copyright infringement. Still, pretty guilt-free from my standpoint."

"The original cassette release included a sticker which read "If they try to charge more, STEAL IT!" Was this an actual endorsement of shoplifting?"

"The entity that is hurt by the pirating is the record companies."

So Cage is a proper noun, and not an order to a poacher/carnie?

"My comment was mainly directed at the "DJs have replaced the live band" comment directly above it."

Agh! I forgot Fat Tony/Joey Zaza!

Add Dennis Farina and you've got the trinity of Italian actors!

Interesting.

"people copy and paste headlines/parts of newspaper/blog/ESPN/CNN articles to each other all the time, which is a direct violation of copyright"

"Copyright infringement is not theft, it's copyright infringement, it doesn't need new or extra labels"

"they were instrumental in shutting down a service that was spreading that same kind of awareness to smaller bands on a much larger scale."

You're right, the excessively high pricing is/was a huge negative.

"Forgive my loud tone."

"it seems worth mentioning that in plenty of cases the artists who made the music aren't the people who own the rights, or profit from the music."

LOVE the big scoop! I bought my first real amp based almost entirely on how close it could get to that sound.

Wait, what?
