I recommend that people only watch the Barclay episodes.

I watched the original Mobile Suit Gundum last year.  Its insistence on putting a battle scene in every single episode leads to some redundancy and tedium, but the series still contains some great shit.  That's about all I know of 80s anime, and even that was bridging the 70s and 80s.

I gave up pretty early on both Tom Jones and Tristram Shandy.  18th century prose is too dense for my coddled 21st century brain.

My thoughts exactly.  Don't treat anime as a thing to get into.  Just watch it the same as any other movie or show.

Seems like there should be a fair amount of overlap in fans of Miike and fans of Phoenix Wright, yet I rarely hear anyone complaining about it not making it over here.  I guess because it's not really the type of film western audiences have come to know Miike for.

My tolerance for Austen kitsch is really really low, so no need to feel judged.  Zombies I've had a beef with long before they met Pride and Prejudice, so I didn't even bother.

Doing the story from Lord of the Clans seemed to be the general consensus from the Warcraft nerds, but I can't see Hollywood springing for an Orcish identity epic.

It seems most people's tolerance for Austen kitsch is directly proportional to their love of Austen.  For me it's inversely proportional.  Maybe I'll give this a shot.
