Go Pats!

With all the public noise about going over budget, the limited time and IOC looking over everyone shoulder, you honestly dont think that more will get done correctly now, than if we were under the gun of an Olympic deadline? Name one city whose infrastructure got sidelined because of corruption? Maybe they overspent

I think that any loss of money to the Olympic machine is worth putting a fire under the ass of this city to improve. Without it we are back to the status quo, where years go by and nothing gets done. I think the venues built could have brought all kinds of new sporting opportunities to a city full of 20 and 30 year

Thats a pipe dream and thats what all you fucking people don’t understand. the billions for this 2 week festival would have gone a long way into fixing the T, upgrading it and hopefully leaving it in a state were it could actually function.

Yes you are right, when it came time for the elections, voters who may have voted Bush went Perot, im not arguing that. What i am saying is had Bush been able to keep his no new tax pledge he most likely would have been able to ride his huge approval rating right through till the elections and even with Perot, his

About one in four voters said Mr. Bush’s reversal of his 1988 “no new taxes” pledge was very important in making their choice for President this year. Of those, roughly two-thirds voted for Mr. Clinton.

This was like when Bush #1 raised taxes against his pledge while running for president. No one wanted it, he was voted out because of it. But now in hindsight most historians agree it was the right call, and allowed the country to have a growing economy in the 90s instead of a severe recession.

Oh and how exactly do you figure that? Even if the Olympics were a total financial bomb, the infrastructure, venue and international exposure would have been more that enough to make up for it. I dont think you quite realize what an event like this does for local businesses. Outside of the typical vendors selling

You don’t get it. This would have put a fire under the ass of MBTA improvment. They couldnt afford delays in bulding/improving what they agreed to. There would have been a closer eye kept on projects, people would need to be held accountable for issues/delays sooner.

That’s the problem right there, most people only considered it for 10 seconds. They couldnt see past the personal aggravation this would cause and realize how good this could have been for us. Instead thier self centered thinking killed what may have been a once in our lifetime opportunity.

This is exactly what you people screaming no dont get. They will not turn around and use that money to fix the subway or take care of the other projects. They get bogged down in year after year of read tape and improvments are made slower than a snail on a treadmill.

A great leader sometimes has to follow what they know is right and not what the majority is asking for. Those with balls to do the right thing but not the popular thing are those that make history.

Exactly, it’s the rich 1% who could see what i good idea these games where going to be for the region. The saw past the fincial burden to the jobs and money that could have been made durring and after the Olympics came to town. They understood the many ways this could boost our local economy for years not to mention

Those people were a bunch of shortsighted whiny assholes who ruined something that could’ve been really great for everyone but were too self centered to step up and embrace this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Yeah yeah yeah, bring it on. We’ve heard it all before. Just wait for Belichick and Brady to play in the AFC Championship game again with more than half of the starters from last year gone.

Talk about spoiled, I remember seeing the B52 at an airshow a couple years ago among, the B1-B, C130, KC135 and several C5 galaxies and feeling shocked at how small it was.
