Am I the only one who says "I understand" and "that seems more than fair"? I prefer the full post in my RSS and I appreciate being able to get that all these years... for free! But I fully understand that Lifehacker gets revenue from advertising and we've been reading their great content without helping them pay for

My daughter and I both use Firefox but I don't want to share bookmarks and extensions and such so we each have our own profile. But we made special desktop shortcuts to each so launching FF in our desired profile is literally a no brainer.

@diamonddnice: ditto. Do I lose my google account if I delete my profile? It's ridiculous that google warns you that you'll lose your profile and someodd links and that you can never get it back again, but doesn't fully explain what the heck it is or what the implications are.

I'm very happy with CutePDF but I do have one problem with it. Usually (but not always) links that I have in a Word document become non-links. Does anybody know of a different free and unwatermarked PDF creator that actually maintains links?

This doesn't make sense. It says "2009 Adjusted Gross Income of $57,000 or less". The taxes you fill out this year are your 2009 taxes. The taxes you filled out in 2009 were your 2008 taxes. How in the world would you know what your 2009 AGI is before you do them? Are they saying to go figure out all of your 2009

I was very optimistic about this program. I downloaded, installed, and tested it out for quite a while. Don't waste your time. Among other annoyances were two huge deal breakers. First, the prompter doesn't scroll smoothly. It's very choppy which makes it dizzying to try to follow. Along with that, you also

Speaking of tv-related software... does anybody have any recommendations for a TELESTRATOR PROGRAM? Something simple (and hopefully free) to draw on a full-screen and quickly erase? (For my purposes it doesn't even need to do it over pictures or video.) Suggestions?

I use bitly several times daily for work. I have the bookmarklet that slides in a shortened url of the current page but the big problem for me is that the pages I'm always trying to shorten are new pop-up windows without the toolbar so I can't possibly get to the bookmarklet until I first drag the favicon of the

Anybody know a good hack for turning a good working laptop's monitor (Windows Me so it's nearly useless as a computer) into a usable monitor for a different desktop PC (that has a dimming tube monitor)?

This would be awesome. I'm having no luck finding a descent but basic no-frills editor that handles .mp4 file formats which is becoming more and more popular. Windows Movie Maker would do fine for easy basic stuff but it can't handle .mp4's.

I've been using Picasa for years but after doing studying on both services for weeks, decided to go with Flickr for a large scale colaborative project. Picasa has many great features that Flickr just can't touch (name tagging without needing permission from people you're tagging is one big one), but Picasa just won't

It seems than everybody who wanted one already has one. But still, post your email in a reply and I'll send you an invite.

Why in the world did Jing make this list? I mean, who in the world would accept a branding watermark in the corner when there are so many other free options out there that don't.

When you try to install it says you must uninstall (not just stop running) all other virus protection software on your computer or else problems will arise. I've been using Avast and I've seen it catch many viruses so I guess I'm satisfied with it. It Microsoft Security Essentials that much better than Avast that I
