I lived in smacked dab in the center of downtown Houston during Harvey. I’ve lived through a hurricane and was stuck in my apartment for over a week. I’m just genuinely wondering whats actually “worse”. Most people seem to be relatively unprepared, see how many people panic for bread, milk, and peanut butter come any

I wonder what the actual evac demand would be compared to gas cars. Like, I’m sure there are a huge number of car owners who leave their gas powered car on near empty and only fill up when they absolutely have to; I’m assuming that number is surely less for EVs simply because there is a huge number of them that are

I mean, I guess if you consider any company that calls themselves Fisker is almost guaranteed to be run (or at least founded) by Henrik Fisker, then yeah, that is a curse. Dude is just a bad businessman.

You do know the 5.7 was recommended and rated to run on mid grade 89 octane while the SO hurricane is rated on regular 87? So, small fuel economy improvement, more power, more torque, plus the ~14% savings in cost per gallon (per national average last week). Seems like a win in my book.

Now playing

Turbos are about the closest thing to a free lunch you can get, but TANSTAAFL always applies.

Not only that, but technology has made relatively intrusive searches and tracking incredibly easy, cheap, and common for the government. That decrease in friction should come with a comparably similar increase in friction in the form of oversight.

Are you expecting the truck to also get the advertised fuel economy when it’s pulling a huge ass boat in the commercial? Or when it’s shown flying through a muddy field or climbing a mountain?

Dang, you’re right. How did I not know that?

Or people just blow through stop signs, it’s not like those are enforced either.

I petitioned my city to implement some form of traffic slowing on my street. They did a traffic study and found that because something like 50% of the traffic does not exceed the posted limit by over 30%, it was unnecessary. This is in a highly urban environment, side street, single lane each way, street parking, a

It sounds like they were using Excel as a homebrew database when they really need some sort of database with actual smarts instead of just basic input spreadsheet logging, ah la a true MRP system, or better yet an ERP with MRP built in. Personally, I’d even hate to have it in a basic, non intellegent, database like

You can still do that if you want, but the car you want to import has to be federalized. Plus, that again equally applies to both domestic and foreign automakers. Seriously, you can easily google why the rule exists and it’s wildly reported it’s because of heavy lobbying by Mercedes, not GM, not Ford, not Chrysler.

You do realize the 25 year ban on imports was lobbied for by foreign automakers, not domestic ones, right? Mainly Mercedes, but also Porsche, Ferrari and BMW didn’t like the fact that Americans could import many of their cars gray market for way cheaper than they could buy the US equivalent at one of their US dealers

Must be tiring to keep your head in the sand, use false arguments, and insult others.

Subways and buses are not public accommodations.

Explain it to me then. So where exactly is the transition from acceptable to unacceptable? Why are some forms of travel via public infrastructure more of a right than others? Seriously, what is so different that it is absurd to submit to search to use a MTA owned and operated toll road/bridge/tunnel vs the MTA owned

Can the same be said for using a public sidewalk? Public road? Toll road? Or only if it’s a transportation “service” that the government arbitrarily chooses to charge for? Does no one have any right to any form of transport system so long as the government has provided the infrastructure to support said transport?
