It’s gonna be a hit for like the 2000 weirdos that are actually willing to fork over the money for a giant, unconventional, and less useful truck purely for the off the wall overly retro-futuristic design & look-at-me factor. But for the general truck buying populace, I agree. It’s gonna be 100% DOA.

It’s crazy that, continuing with the 2016 Camry example in the article, a car that can burn 44 gallons of fuel can do it with less emissions than a teeny engine maybe burning at most a half gallon of fuel. I wonder what exact emissions they are referring to though, it certainly can’t be CO2, right?

The back seat is small, but it looks like the front seat is ALL the way back in the pictures. My coworker has a V just like this and a full grown adult can fit in the back so long as you don’t put the front seats all the way back like this. Yeah, it’s a small car so it doesn’t have tons of room, but certainly livable.

Yeah, I feel like Subaru’s biggest “threat” is upmarket alternatives and even then I don’t think it’s that big a problem. Oddly, Subaru people seem to keep buying Subarus and not looking much else where. Most people I know who no longer drive Subaru is because they now earn more and can afford something else that is

I guess I don’t understand the solidarity argument. Why does everyone have to show solidarity? It’s not like you’re showing solidarity with the underpaid workers in China that probably made the phone or computer you typed that comment on. Or solidarity with immigrant that probably harvested the food you had at lunch.

The only thing not to like is that you can’t get the 6.4L in one anymore.

What similar priced (or cheaper) & sized car will blow the doors off a 300? Yeah, it’s not exactly fast or a canyon carver, but it’s a decent overall package. There really isn’t a similar sized/priced competitor that either handles better or is faster that isn’t a Charger?

Not all of the 30k stolen Accords are are that specific year or even generation. But yeah, it’s still weird that a 24 year old Accords are the most common model year stolen.

Per this very article, GM has continually held the US sales leader title since 1931. Remember, this is US sales, not global. GM got passed quite a while ago by both Toyota and VW for the global title I believe.

I mean yeah, but they also get to avoid gas taxes that pay for the roads Tesla owners will surely use. So far all the dumb laws and taxes out there, this one doesn’t seem all that bad. As EVs get more popular, all states will have to find alternatives to the gas tax, this is one of those.

That actually had some serious performance over a normal Caliber. Sure, it was still a piece of crap, but at least it was a much higher performing piece of crap.

What about the Grand Caravan R/T? IIRC, literally almost no performance upgrades, mostly some unique molding & color choices; the only real changes are some springs I think.

Are we gonna get new Toyota commercials that now show their rear gear as pretty much the same size as everyone else?

I don't think that's true. Plenty of trucks without it here in NY, mine included. Tacoma's don't even have it available.

Maybe it will get a transmission with more gears to help fuel economy.

I think the biggest reason for the more boring racing is the shear size of the current cars. They’ve gotten truly huge and are currently longer than a Suburban.

I’m totally gonna be that guy....

Ok. Go with Casita then and still save like 30%.

Yeah, who in their right mind would get this over a Bambi or more affordable Basecamp? If you really need that low weight, save a ton of money and go Scamp & a separate utility trailer. The idea is cool, but pricing entirely ruins it.

I’m baffled by the investment choices of VW. Let’s make a not very competitive and expensive sedan! You know, to flounder in the fastest shrinking segment! Kinda like the Passat, but with a premium pricetag but not really premium performance. Let’s totally not make a truck for the US! It’s not like our US factory
