Adler-Olsen’s Dept. Q is definitely another series that deserves mention when recommending titles in this genre. They’re solid mysteries, with great characters and enough humor in them to keep you from giving up on humanity after reading Arnuldur Indridason (who also gets my endorsement.)

Also consider Jussi Adler-Olsen’s Department Q novels, beginning with The Keeper of Lost Causes and Karin Fossum’s Inspector Sejer books, beginning with Eva’s Eye/Eva’s Oye/In the Darkness or whatever it’s titled in the U.S. The “new” Girl/Steig novel is horrendously bad, even if you somewhat liked the originals.
