Just when I thought I couldn't loathe him more…
Jack Clayton is such a masterful director of actresses. I'd really like to see The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne with Maggie Smith and Wendy Hiller. The DVD seems to only be available at astronomical prices for the time being.
I'd go with Aladdin, then Tangled, then The Princess and the Frog, then Beauty and the Beast. Maybe my love for Beauty and the Beast dimmed somewhat by being in a house with a 3-year old who insisted on playing it every day (at least once) for over a year.
I like to hear myself running my mouth and I like you. (Especially for correcting my spelling)
And lest we forget, I Was a Teenage Caveman, with one of the best endings ever.
Ahem, Magnificent Seven was not his first major film role. He was Oscar-nominated for his performance in 1959's Young Philadelphians
Manu Ciao's Proxima Estacion Esperanza
Maybe now we'll get a release for Hoa Binh. It was nominated for an Oscar and got excellent reviews, but I've never seen a trace of it since. It sounds great.
That's a thing?
The lack of variety of the subjects is why I think the series is good, not great. Maybe they could have gone back to Tony's girlfriend - who only appears in the first episode. Even if they had skipped a couple with her (say, catching up at 28), she'd be in it as often as some of the rest. It's a fascinating…
It's a real shame they didn't interview more girls. The lack of variety in the women becomes more and more noticeable as the series progresses.
I don't know. I'm pretty disappointed with this season so far. It feels too all-over-the-place, almost as if they threw out their original plan and are now making things up anew each episode. Too many plotlines going in too many directions. I haven't lost faith that they'll pull it all together in the end, but so far…
The Norma Desmond roast is in the main gallery of my Comedy Hall of Fame "Not now Max, I'm on a roll!"
Some people think she's nice, some people think she's nasty. Let's just call her Nicety!
There's nothing stupid about their accounting. The fine line is between customary and criminal
Went over to rockhall.com and cast my futile vote (bet none of my choices makes it) The only one I feel really strongly about is Kraftwerk (I also voted for ELO, Janet Jackson, MC5 and Steppenwolf)- who will never get in. Ever. But they mean a lot to me. My only regret is that we don't get a blackball option to vote…
I'm a big Monkees fan and one thing I like about the Monkees is that they show that rock 'n' roll is such a freewheeling art form that sometimes the crassest, most transparent ripoffs can at times actually be better than their models — at least for awhile.
Gotta admit I like OMD a lot too, but Hall of Fame Material? Hmmm maybe, but not before the Slade (luv luv luv the Slade) the Psychedelic Furs or Roxy Music (never even been a finalist!!). But then again, in the immortal words of Casey Kasem "They're from England and who gives a shit!" Damn furriners.
Or the immortal Outfield!
