He has covered/released that one already.
I come close to agreeing on most of your solo-Paul summary except that you have to make a big exception for 1989's Flowers in the Dirt, one of his best studio albums IMO. I also think Flaming Pie was way overrated but most of them since then are pretty darn listenable. Run Devil Run is another favorite of mine.
I saw that too at Radio City Music Hall. Brian's band the Wondermints did an absolutely amazing job of recreating the Beach Boys' hits. Anyway this was a big surprise and just wonderful news to me today - in what I would have thought was the "hell freezes over" category. It's sad that Carl and Dennis aren't here to…
It's mostly not the lyrics or subject matter that make their catalog of hits so great. It's the music, I have no idea if you pay attention to any of that - the melodies, chord changes, gorgeous vocal harmonies, instrumentation, production and the magical overall sound. So far ahead of their time. You've missed or…
It was Heller who made these comments about the song: "it took no surplus of talent to play it" (then contrasting it with when the band subsequently "played a song that did demand a bit of talent and knowledge") and then sort of imo undersold the song's quality level by describing it as just "simple, direct, catchy."…
I love the song and most early TP&TH's and this was a fun article, BUT as a (very) longtime cover band musician like the guy in the story, I disagree completely with the writer's remarks about how "simple" and easy to play the song is. Quite the contrary - the song's staggered, changing rhythmic pattern is REALLY…
The other one's dead.
Okay, I have a question. What about the woman that Andy earlier in the season told Erin he was dating pretty seriously and had gone out with 31 times I think it was? That doesn't seem to have been mentioned again since then. Pretty sure he wasn't just making it up or anything.
