Well, unless you're a black queer person who works in education, I'm gonna say our experiences are gonna diverge a bit. That said, for the immediate future, I'm taking solace in giddy video game indulgence.

Having just bought my PS4 three weeks ago as a Christmas present for myself, it's backlog time. I haven't owned a console since my PS2 in high school. There's something exciting about having this new open world of games (though I play on my PC often, my little computer that could is way too old to play anything…
I'm even more amused that Sean Bean doesn't show up in the actual game because he cost too much and they had to recast him.
Me too. 4400 was also my first exposure to him. Man, it's been truly delightful watching him glo up these past five or so years.
Agreed. A lot of language I hear white gay men using comes from AAVE, originating from queer (and straight) black/brown people. If we want to get in the particulars of language, appropriation, and terms going "mainstream" then it can get interesting very fast.
I would suggest that we haven't progressed that much from 1990. Queer people of colour—particularly trans women—are still very likely to be murdered or incarcerated for minor offenses, let alone something as complex and likely as abuse and violence resulting in a death.
The fact that I'm finding out that Young Thug did a song about Harambe is truly amazing (I also think he's a complete and total asshole, but I'm still amused).
You must really have a sore spot for that Michael Jackson, then.
My problem with Anti was that Consideration was hands down one of the best tracks she's ever done, and it felt like the album had nowhere to go afterwards. Anti feels more like a playlist than a coherent album. There are plenty of songs on it that I like, but as a whole, it doesn't do that much for me (particularly…
Most likely, which really just goes to underline why white liberal parents/families still contribute to and are complacent within systemic racism. I don't think anyone is suggesting that the parents don't have their reasons. What is being suggested is that this attitude assures that certain populations (primarily…
In that same manner, when they kiss for the first time and Ben awkwardly raises his hand (like he's going to grab the back of McKinley's head) and then lowers it without doing anything is perfect.
'Arry Potter!
I still enjoy this site very much, but the lack of The Dissolve—and the depth of writing that was such a consistent baseline there—hurts. As much as the whining about AVC gets tiring, it would be a lie to say there wasn't a noticeable shift when The Dissolve peeps all jumped ship.
Watching Stella as a teenager shaped so much of my comedic taste. I love that show to death.
When Greg was wheezing and coughing with that obvious headshot wound, I laughed so loud my roommate ran in to see what was wrong.
For fuck's sake.
My book club filled with super hip twenty-somethings (lies, we're a bunch of dorks) was toying with the idea of Station Eleven for our next affair. Does it lend itself to solid drunken group discussion?
I think you've made my life a little brighter by highlighting that review.
Just finished it. Really, really enjoyed it.
I just rewatched pretty much all of Season 6 (since it's up unedited on Hulu) and Milk did not get read for that beard by anyone other than some of the queens right before the runway. Michelle even went to so far as to say that she kinda loved that she had the balls to wear a beard on the runway. Ya'll are…
