I think we’re on the same page—honestly, I really do. I get why balance changes need to happen, even in a single player game (which I believe this is; PvP isn’t a factor the way it is in other games). I get it, and I even agree. I think you’re right, too, that because we know players tend to favor the path of least…
I almost feel like there’s an alternate universe where FP is overhauled to work such that it regens slowly over time, and basic attacks cause it to build back up (a bit like Diablo). No Cerulean Tear Flask; you gotta get in there and get your hands dirty if you want to use the special moves.
I’m not projecting a thing. I saw several dozen people saying specifically that. Those are the exact people I was talking about. Not representative of every person who plays, but then, who would assume that? Of course I’m talking about specific people.
Bloodborne’s my favorite game of all time. I like things about these games’ combat. This one has some of the things I like, too. But it’s got a lot of things I don’t. I bought it for a lot more than the combat. Its combat isn’t as fun or as interesting as Bloodborne’s.
Right, I had found that move on my own and marveled at how useful it was, and it made me super happy because it meant I could breeze through a lot of encounters I’d been slogging my way through (I’m not here for the combat). I looked online to see if it was a weird build I had stumbled into, and I saw people saying…
It’s super weird that when people say these games are too hard and they wish for easier modes or options, people point to the obscure OP items, abilities, or builds, but then complain about broken stuff so it gets nerfed.
Great points! They’re very different, I think, so I’ll try to tackle them separately.
Hey everybody, I have the final and definitive take on difficulty in soulslikes so please read this so nobody ever has to have the discussion again. It even comes with a joke take, for levity!
I work in a school alongside our paras and have worked with a ton of different special needs students and not only is masking not a problem with most of them, for the ones it is a problem for we have extra precautions (like using face shields instead, or those masks with the plastic windows). Many already know sign…
Yeah, I really liked this game, and as a non-competitive, not-super-skilled person, I appreciated that I could just play against bots and have the full experience—and a challenge, at that.
I have absolutely zero skin in this game these days but I can’t resist making the joke:
Bloodborne is my favorite game of all time but I still think Hades has a cleaner approach to difficulty and forging the “intended” experience for the most players.
I tried out RDO for a few days a couple weeks back (having not played since launch) and it spawned me in the extreme far north. I hiked all the way back down out of the cold, through a blizzard, and it was quite a struggle because I couldn’t remember the controls or mechanics (which are quite fiddly and complex…
But it sounds like the ask here is not to actually make it another GTAO—but to do literally any (1, single) thing, period. I bet if you went to any given RDO community right now there are dozens of sensible, fun-sounding concepts, expansions, or even just QoL improvements being suggested that would fit right in.

I recently reinstalled this to see if the online had grown meaty enough to be worthwhile, after checking out the approximately five minutes’ worth of content that was available at launch, and I had a mixed experience.
I’m not particularly down on the game as-is (though I do think the whole “pretending to be free to play” thing is grating, when it’s really just free to try, and the fact that they’re slowly taking away things people paid money for while still asking people to keep paying money for anything new, in increasingly…
It would have been pretty interesting if D2 had ended with Shadowkeep, and mostly nothing being lost. It would have mirrored D1 so much:
Base game with problems, two DLC’s with middling-to-poor reception, major capstone expansion that saves the game, final middling and somewhat inconsequential farewell sendoff.
Maybe Jeremy just wants a chance to talk to Suzi. And I mean, who wouldn’t? She’s a delight. Really great channel--her youtube introspectives and deep dives are excellent.
Sure, but then it doesn’t earn any points from me just because they poke fun at a caricature of the doomsday prepper. The leads are cut from the same cloth, and mocking crazy doomsday preppers reads like their dog whistle to me. These are still white tough guy tattooed bikers from oregon with a love of violence and a…
