Your mistake is thinking that the young untested hero in MoS IS that Superman yet. He’s not. That’s called character growth.

Superman didn’t murder Zod. Also, Superman in MoS didn’t “accidentally” destroy a huge part of the city. Zod and his cronies did. Superman was on the defense from moment one.

In defense of Goyer, in 2003 the idea that a whole franchise of movies could be built around multiple superhero knockdowns would have been nigh unheard of. Before Marvel set out to change that fact, no one thought it was really possible.

Don’t be obtuse. A 1% chance with a nearly omnipotent supergod alien, is a 99% human chance. You failed statistics when applying them to a nigh unstoppable superhero.
