Does it feel sluggish with the air conditioning on? How about with several passengers? By sluggish, I’m referring to throttle response and overall how much pep it has in regular driving.

I don’t know about that...from my limited research (why yes, I am thinking about buying a 987), it sounds like the base version is the better choice. More fun to wind out and more reliable (less chance of IMS issues and bore scoring).

Not a fan of the wheels (too large, not enough sidewall, and more expensive tires), and I’m neutral on the lowering and exhaust mods since I would have to experience it first hand.

Gotta go with the RC211V.

This is a really good point since I don’t think as many people would complain about the power in the 86 twins IF the powerband was completely linear.

Why does Honda/Acura hate RWD?

An AWD 86 would add at least 200 pounds and the sublime handling/steering feel would definitely be negatively affected.

I miss the late 90s/early 00s.

An incredibly smooth run up to 9k redline while I’m cackling like a child disagrees with you.

Acura going RWD would be very intriguing.

I switched my kids to front facing child seats around 2.5 years and my son to a booster when he hit 4.5. I’ve had sedans (Mazda 3, and two WRXs), and there is no way for the kid to fit in a rear facing seat after a certain size. Besides, I also like the fact that the kids were able to climb into their own seats around

Kind of. The 91-92 models had a tendency to toe out when the rear suspension became unloaded when you lifted throttle. The 93+ models changed this so they were less prone to snap oversteer.

I’m not an expert, but I’ve always heard that it was a...less than stellar rust proofing treatment used during the early 2000s to about 2009-2010. It seems that later cars have held up much better (or it could just be that they’re too new to show the advanced rust that will come in a few years).

Great write up, but just one little note: you mentioned jacking up the rear of the bike and running the engine in 1st gear...I would highly advise not doing this.

I saw this mentioned in one of the comments, but I can’t seem to reply directly to it (thanks, Kinja!). Malcom Gladwell’s Revisionist History podcast actually tackled this issue. They tested a mid 90s Camry, and an early 00s Cobra: even at WOT, the brakes will stop the car.

Wait, the new Eclipse is going to be a crossover?

If only they would make such a car in that fancy rally blue color...

With enough time and money, anything is possible.

Not entirely...
