Did he mention the words "nielson", "ratings", "arc", "story", "demographics", or "advertisement" in his address? No, unfortunately, he did not. While I agree that is a valid position, one I agree with (for the most part), Harmon didn't make that point (or points) at all.

I don't have a disagreement with any of that (apart from Pan Am being pretty terrible and a good example of Networks getting it wrong). Can you tell me what you thought he meant when he asked the audience for a show of hands about the method of consumption? Internet or TV? Why did he ask if people knew the channel

I can't speak for the other commentors, but I'm not an incredible fan of the big three (plue CW and Fox) and I would agree that they are doing things incredibly badly these days. Just look at the corpses of failed TV shows that scatter the landscape, most of them never seeing a full season before they get cancelled.

Indeed. The "I can win" followed by the "Oh crap, I could win". Very good indeed.

Again, her training on Themyscira included the classics. She was a warrior of letters before she got to our shores. Indeed, Diana and Themyscria can't easily be separated as she was trained to represent Themyscria to the outside world; a proud warrior woman to be sure, but also one who was intelligent and forthright.

Revenge fantasies can be good, this is true, and I'm discounting the effect the Crow can and does have. It is one of my favorite movies. But, in this list, compared and contrast with other "fun" movies, it doesn't belong.

It seems a little bitter. For example, his point about Breaking Bad, which could be a point made about any TV show which finds it's way to the torrents, is that it's still produced by TV companies. His internet revolution which had Breaking Bad "on the internet" still requires a person to make decisions. Money which

Okay, beyond you failing to offer proof in the WW canon for you point, the synopsis states a comparison between the sheer brutality of Themyscira and the awe of our world. It implies that there is no "Athens" part of Greek antiquity which you are claiming, which IS supported by canon and NOT supported in this

The moment when Riker destroys Data on the stand ("Pinocho is broken, his strings have been cut" if memory serves), before sitting down absolutely hating himself was one of the high points of a great show. (The finale scene was also a nice bookend moment).

Every other depiction I've read/watched of Themyscira was a mix of a number of different ancient cultures. Indeed, the result was illuding to superiority over male dominated culture as they were not as barbaric as those damn dirty men folk. Althought, I'd be happy to be corrected on this point. Can you direct me to

A very nice episode indeed (my love for Caroline only grows when she's being all commanding and shit... yes, I have issues... good issues). The only real qualm I had was the professor, but that's the age old problem of TVD can't do mythology well. They can't do arc well.

The good...

Does sound a little off. Her home "of relentless brutality" and seeing "our world with awe and astonishment"? It sounds like CW wanted to a WW show, but got scared off a more traditional story by the aboptive Ally McWonder. It begs the question about how/whyfore they're gonna introduce the conflict home elements.

I would hate to disagree, the following scene between daddy detective and info-dump partner did that. Indeed, daddy detective spelt it out.

The doctor said she had a concussion. Also, being involved in a shooting would be, ya know, traumatic and shit. You always hear doctors recommending a few days bed rest. Are we surprised that she did what the doctor's recommended. AND if she had have been shot, she would have been in hospital for the entire time. Jack

Or what about The Event? That had all the criteria required for this list... also, it was shit! :)

I very much enjoyed both the book and BBC Mini. This is in the "cherry" category for me. Not necessary, but a cherry on top to be sure! :)

Envoking the spirit of the postal system, and then going... just e-mail me. Did you just suggest an agony aunt page for geekdom?

Having one such pilot, I have no problem with that. Bass was making a big deal about getting the choppers, so he'd make a similar big deal about getting pilots. More than one pilot, that's when you get into implausibility.
