I arrived at Bath...at the Roman Baths thanks to a finicky GPS system (TomTom?) in my rental car from London. I did not want to do that, just wanted to park nearby. Tricky 10pt turn around with dumpsters and delivery trucks. Bonus difficulty of an upset spouse and only ~1.5hrs of right-hand driving time on our Nissan

Air slide 5th wheels have been around for a very very long time. Navistar (International) built a working protoype that was controllable via the cab or software that tucked the trailer to the cab above a certain mph (probably 40-45 or so). It was a massive mpg gain. All this in 2010...

Now playing

I mean, we’re talking super old (Pre-80), but still they still exist on the roads, albeit in tiny numbers. FMVSS121 put ABS on tractors in ‘99 I believe, but not sure on trailer requirements as you can have various mixes and matches of ABS/non-ABS truck/trailer combos. I do know that heavy haul trailers (51?+ ton) are

In the US that kid dies. Lax braking rules, drums are still ultra common, and older trucks without steer axle brakes are still road legal. As of 2013 the stopping distance dropped to 250ft from 355ft @ 60mph. But there’s plenty of trucks with legal stopping distances of over 355ft out there. Severe service trucks

It also eliminates the property tax deduction, which screws people. TX has pockets of high property taxes (well over 3%). It’s not hard to push the deductions over the $25k if you’ve got kid(s), mortgage interest, PMI, and high property taxes. No one knows if the child exemption goes away, but assuming it does I would

Did I write this? Because seriously. I did a long stint in DFW in the middle though.

Impossible. They are everywhere here. I’m in the same boat. Houston is College Station 2.0.

It’s a good thing he doesn’t have the sales to actually support 500k/yr. He can BS about capabilities and not actually have to prove it with real #s because there’s no way. There’s not enough in his slush fund for starters - for manpower, inventory, equipment, etc. His Tier 1/2/3 supplier base would struggle/fail,

Bridge formula. More of a requirement than something allowed. That’s how you end up with stuff like these Cali SuperDumps. And other setups with tag/pusher axles everywhere.

Almost. Needs more dirtbike, less streetbike:

Eaton Auto and Ultrashifts have been around for a number of years. The Autoshift keeps the clutch pedal. It’s only used for start/stop. The Ultrashift has no pedal and is essentially like an SMG/dual clutch. Ultrashift also has creep mode (<1ft/sec velocity) for spreading, curbing, paving, etc.

I totally forgot they built some B4C LS1 T56 cars. It was like 150(?) over the entire 98-02 run, most of them in ‘02.

Yeah, they had big ass trans coolers. It was about half the width of the radiator. My car didn’t have cruise either.

My 89 SSP was a factory AOD/2.73 car. It was a Stephenville TX Sheriff car, not TX DPS. All the DPS cars were 5spds I believe. Auto and AC were the only options (no power w/l or silicone hoses) on mine. I put a T5Z and 3.55s in it. Felt like a new car.

Awesome except the wheels. They are bad. Very bad. Very very bad.

Thant’s only a factor in California anyways.

Lift blocks are good like that. No one ever learns.

True. Depending on where you live, it’s pretty impossible to avoid using Bush in DFW or Westpark/BW8 in Houston. This can be location or due to traffic.

You also have to do this to go offshore in the GoM - OHS/HUET training.

The new simulators not only dump you left/right (around the X axis), but also spin 360 (around the Y axis).
