He purchased a Volvo C40 Recharge EV but wanted to get rid of it after only a few months of ownership due to technical problems; the infotainment screen and backup camera would randomly cut out and the car would make a loud screeching noise when reversing.”

A-Class, dream car? That person needs to dream bigger. He is in Texas after all.

DONT TAZE ME BRO!

Why would you give Musk an interest free loan on a vehicle you weren’t really going to buy?

the numbers become more plausible if buyers believed that they could get one for $40k, which is less than the current average new car price. but at 2 1/2 times that, most people obviously ran for the hills

it’s wholly possible that they had 1-2 million reservations, and people started cancelling them as soon as they saw what a donkey of a car it is. then musk turning into a raging nazi took care of whatever other reservations were left and not delivered on.

“I like that Dark Brandon idea, I’m gonna steal it.”

Musk campaigning for Trump with his “Dark Maga” hat and theme seems even scarier than just Trump being elected. I suspect when they say “Dark Maga”, they truly have some nasty ideas waiting to implement.

My current ape like perception of the EV market right now: I don’t want any car that can’t use the Tesla Supercharger network. I don’t want any car built by Tesla due to their build quality, UI decisions, and customer support reputation.

The only company really slumping in EV sales is Tesla. It is single-handed dragging down national sales.

Oh we're concerned about unsustainable incentives? I have some exciting news about your free parking and free roads then!

Remember that time on Jalopnik a few weeks ago when EV’s were doomed and auto makers were better off cancelling all of their EV programs?

Historically disruptive tech costs jobs in one sector while creating them in another. This is a smoke screen because Toyoda does not like the concept of going fully electric and never has. He’s not totally wrong about the tech, at least in the near term. Right now plug in hybrids make the most sense as the grid

The cuts could come as skilled jobs in “engine-related” work are lost as gas-powered motors are replaced by electric ones

Of course it’s going to cost jobs. Typewriters being replaced meant there wasn’t a need for people to fix them; Plotting printers meant there was no longer a need for drafters.

Losing jobs due to technical advancements is a story as old as the industrial revolution. Look at this picture compared to the lead one and see how many workers lost their jobs from robots.

Yeap. Almost had that happen to my GP once. They had gotten a new EKG machine and were experimenting with it and hooked him up. The results were way off, which he said had to be an error with the machine. Other doctor insisted he take a stress test. Which he did without any pain or shortness of breath. While in the

$10k for a 13 year old NGV that would be a pain to refill for most people?

$10 would be 18kwh, so enough for maybe 72 miles of range, HEAVILY depending on car and conditions. To put it another way, 72 miles of range is maybe 2.5 gallons of gas worth of range for a typical crossover suv. 2 gallons of gas for a compact car. And like 1.5 gallons of gas for a hybrid sedan.
So this is MORE

Their secondary market journeys are so rough. Repos, auctions, BHPH lots, sketchy neighborhoods, buyers who just need A car -- any car and hate having to own one because Boomers made car ownership mandatory.
