He literally owns a 918 and could afford the type of garage and collection in the original post if that’s what he wanted.

A bar is fine and dandy, but it’s missing lifts, compressed air plumbing, etc. I don’t need to stare at my car collection while I drink with friends.
Tell that to Jay Leno. He probably doesn’t change oil (I’d pay someone else to do boring stuff like that if I were a billionaire too), but he will get dirty from time to time. At the very least, I’d want space for my personal mechanics and fabricators to work so they can make my dream builds happen.
Meh. Give me a garage where I can actually get work done. Oogling expensive cars and lounging around gets old after a while.

So the number of “drunk driving fatalities” likely includes every single fatal accident where a driver was found to be over the limit at the scene. The intoxication was probably the proximate cause of most of those accidents, but probably not all (especially in cases when the driver was only slightly above the limit).…
The problem is that a lot of people are willing to be paid in “cool points” to work for F1 instead of designing sewage pumps. And to some extent, I can see why. Do you want to tell all your friends and family that you design race cars or sewage pumps? If you are in F1, why would you pay more if people are willing to…
The NADA’s aversion to EVs isn’t really about EVs per-se. There are three key issues:
I’m guessing $250k is chump change for most of the folks who put up these deposits.
Not a fan of specific cutoffs based on a fixed numbers of miles over. Virigina does this, and there’s little evidence it improves safety much.
I assume the implementation will be similar to what GM’s “Teen Driver Mode” does. You get a chime and a “vehicle overspeed” notice on the dash when the vehicle is over the speed limit. It’s annoying, but it will do nothing to deter the type of person who will go 105mph in a residential zone.
They are a public company- you can see for yourself. Their cash on hand is over $25 billion. $200 million in Cybertruck deposits is a rounding error to them.
A lot of it is just the class of car. You buy a large luxury sedan because it has the latest features and looks like money. After 5 years, it no longer has the latest features and looks like the old model (no longer money).
Currently Drive a Subaru STI. If my car was totaled tomorrow, I’d get a Tesla Model 3 Performance (New).
I wouldn’t want to actually go back to the 1960s, but I have to admit attending a party in a mid-century modern house wearing a teal dinner jacket has a certain appeal.
Hmm... now I hate it even more. The long hood short trunk trend was not a good one (although the Mustang wore it well).
Did they accidentally post the wrong picture? This is the first I’ve heard of them, but what’s in the photo looks pretty heinous to me. The back 1/2 looks fine, but the nose looks like it should be a tail. Sort of like a person with a butt for a face.
I fly transatlantic or to Africa round trip 6-7 times a year and have flown all of the major long-haul aircraft out there. My thoughts:
The 747 has reportedly gone supersonic in a dive in the past.
His downward spiral also dovetails with his breakup with Grimes and his estrangement from his daughter. Romantic breakups and family strife tend not to be good for mental health.
