I have a shower at work, so I don’t mind working up a sweat. But even low-intensity exercise like biking to work at a slow pace has pretty well-demonstrated health benefits. Obviously, it’s not a substitute for going hard in the gym, but it’s certainly better than sitting on your butt in a car. 

The good news is that biological systems are different from mechanical systems. Exercise actually reduces limited function by forcing your body to repair. The worst thing you can do to you knees is not to use them. 

I had an impossible burger once. The verdict? Eat meat, or eat vegetarian, but don’t eat vegetarian trying to be meat. The impossible burger tasted sort of like meat, but smelled bad when cooked and gave me horrible indigestion. Felafel or a black bean burger would have been much more satisfying.

Exercise is a huge part. Walking isn’t really an alternative unless distances are very short. Cycling is typically at least 4x faster over a similar distance. So a 15 minute bike ride is hour walk. A lot of people are fine with a 30 minute bike ride but aren’t about to walk 2 hours each way.

Showers are a key cycling amenity if you live somewhere that gets hot. I bike to work most days, but I’m very lucky that my office has a lockeroom/shower facility for bike commuters. Places like Amsterdam where cycling is the norm not only have good cycling infrastructure, they also have very temperate climates.

I suspect the vast majority of actual sales are going to be long range AWD versions. Those will have enough power to get out of their own way and enough range to be useful for trips longer than around town. The question is what those will cost.

That’s simply how the mathematics of interest work (unless the payment terms are altered to defer interest payments).

I always tell the F&I guy up front that I’m saying “no” to everything, and they usually leave me alone after a couple “all you shures?” If you want an extended warranty, most manufacturers will be happy to sell you one directly at a much lower price than the dealer will.

That’s a good point. Even if they verified income limits, there’s no way to verify whether the individual will have enough tax liability to claim the full credit. What if they buy in January and get laid off in February? No way for a dealer to verify. 

The liberal bias of reality is frustrating isn’t it?
