Most detached garages I’ve seen (including my own) have a very short covered breezeway. You are only outside for 5 feet or so and it’s covered/paved, so there’s nothing to track in and you aren’t really out in the elements. Detached is much nicer if you plan on doing any work in your garage.

I think quite the opposite. If you have a “huge lot” (I’d say .5 acre+ qualifies), you don’t need the snout house design. Those houses tend to either have a detached or a garage on the side. The “snout” is a cost/space saving measure. Less driveway to pour, and you don’t need to dedicate much lot space to driveway.

I don’t think the Concorde was ever capable of taking off of an aircraft carrier- especially one without a working catapult.

While you may have been correct on that diagnosis if that wing was making meaningful downforce (a lot of those cheap wings do not), the problem with putting a bunch of rear downforce only in the front has zero to do with whether the car is front wheel drive.

Yeah, if it’s really $40k, it becomes really hard to justify over a base Tesla model 3 for the same money or cars like the forthcoming EV Equinox. It would need to be substantially cheaper (sub $30k) to sell. But even at that cost, it would be hard. The OG 500 had a moment here, but at the end of the day they didn’t

We all know a few people who turn cherry red after a single drink, but I very much doubt the average person could tell if someone near them has had two beers worth of alcohol with casual observance. They certainly wouldn’t be stumbling around after that much. A bar manager is going to be better than the average

Texan here. Replaced a battery and a set of tires on the early side this summer. But I continue to ride my bike to work heat be damned.

Most breathalyzers aren’t that accurate. You could blow .01 just from gargling some mouthwash an hour before or as measurement artifact. The practical limit is zero if that’s the standard, as the average male will be at .02 from just one beer or glass of wine.

The BAC seems pretty low for “glassy eyed and stumbling.” The impairment at that level is going to be pretty subtle. Someone would typically need to be more than double that before it would be noticeable to who isn’t scrutinizing them very closely.

It may not need more power, but they do need to fix the oil issues that are causing engines to grenade on-track. What’s the point of all the fancy braking and handling upgrades if your motor is going give out?

The statistics about xx% of accidents being speed related are totally bogus. They are literally just looking at check boxes on police reports. The officers who fill out those reports almost never actually observed the accident. Many will simply check “excessive speed” as a matter of course.

All of the NYC airports are terrible in their own way. It’s a close call between NYC and Chicago for which is the worst city to be a frequent flyer from.

I miss those days. Right as you finally have both the time and money to do fun things... yoink! Kids are their own sort of fun though.

Even if you don’t want to read- buy a cheap tablet for $100 and download a few movies beforehand. It’s a way better experience than most onboard entertainment.

Might be worth getting a few airline credit cards. Just having the base United card gets you to group 2.

Might as well give internal combustion a rest while you are at it. EVs are way better for sitting in traffic.

You can only beat the interest by taking on risk. The best risk free returns today (CDs) are in the mid 5% range. Last year, the S&P 500 returned worse than minus 20%. How lucky do you feel? And remember, depending on your marginal tax rate, you have to do better than 7% to beat not taking the loan. If you are near

These Stellantis-based Alfas have basically nothing in-common mechanically with classic (pre-1986 design) Alfas. The Giulia/Stelvio/4C were part of the FCA Alfa Revival campaign of the early 2010s, and suffered some first-year teething issues (mostly the Quad models). Post-refresh FCA Alfas have pretty average

I think the idea is that you aren’t ever supposed to use gas for city driving, so gas fuel economy shouldn’t be a big factor. The gas motor is really just for a bit of extra performance kick and road tripping (where hybridization doesn’t help much).

First find me a risk-free investment that pays better than 7% after tax, then I might consider borrowing more than necessary.
