A properly geared race kart could speed in the left lane.

Compound interest calculations were required in my 10th grade math curriculum. The math behind compound interest is way beyond what one could reasonably expect a 7 year old to understand. I don’t think you are going to have much luck teaching Euler’s number in elementary schools.
Yes, though it’s highly unlikely that fastest lap will matter one way or another. Abu Dhabi will be a 1-2 with either Max or Lewis as winner. If not, it will be a double DNF. Either way one point won’t decide it. It would take something pretty extraordinary for both drivers to be down at the bottom of the points where…
Grass/turf doesn’t work to slow cars if it’s wet. Too much rain on turf, and you get mud, which can flip cars (and be even more slick).
Problem with demanding consistency is that every situation truly is different. Consistency can result in manifestly unfair results an as the impact of consistent decisions could be wildly different. A 5 second penalty could be moot in one case, and decide the WDC in another. Overtaking off track could be a legitimate…
I think a beater (sub $10k) makes a lot more sense for “hold me over.” There’s not much room for a beater to depreciate. I can easily afford a new car, but if my car were totaled tomorrow, I wouldn’t go anywhere near the new car market (or late model used car), be it a lease or a purchase.
It would be a triumph of backyard engineering if they did this to a TR6.
Maybe for WCC, but it shouldn’t matter for WDC absent some big penalties. Assuming neither DNFs (in which case it doesn’t matter), and they continue finishing either #1 or #2, Lewis has to win both races to win WDC. A Lewis win + a 2nd results in Max as WDC regardless of that extra point. If Lewis wins both races, he…
Yes, but we don’t have pricing on the new Z.
This is a car you buy if things like motor swaps don’t intimidate you in the slightest. Under no circumstances should anybody buy this car with the intention of taking it to a mechanic.
I get the appeal of an LS swap, but personally I’d throw out the carbs and do EFI, then swap on some modern turbos. That would take away a lot of the reliability issues and probably get you pretty close on power, while retaining the character of the car.
I actually did my one and only mileage run in late 2020. I had done exactly one overseas business trip in February 2020 that by itself had enough spend to get me to “Platinum” status (one down from the top tier Platinum 1K, setting aside the double secret “Global Services” tier).
I’m mostly familiar with United’s program (I’ve had some form of status for the last 5 years), but they’ve made substantive changes over the last few years. For a long time, they had a minimum spend (which a credit card spend could count towards), but the main hurdle was miles flown (with some reduced earnings formula…
I suppose its a reminder that rural and urban Americas are two very different places. Not just politically, but in terms of the information universe that people inhabit.
It’s not on sale yet, but they’ve at least released teaser photos and basic specs, so it’s not totally absurd that someone could consider it. Also, Toyota does sell with Rav4 Prime now, which given that its a plug in some respondents may consider an eV.
Of course not. I’d much rather have our current situation than pre-deregulation.
The old system of giving out frequent flyer status based on miles flown never really made much sense. People would play silly games like flying circuitous routes to get more miles. Just making it a program for the most profitable customers makes a lot more sense.
Partly because flying costs are about like taking a Greyound today. Quadruple prices, and you’ll get rid of a lot of the flip flop crowd.
Right. First/Business class fares are around (if not lower) than old pre-deregulation fares. Those seats are as good or better than the pre-deregulation experience (other than the security lines, which the airlines can’t control).
My dad has a manual 4 banger 2 series (it’s about as mint as mint gets). It’s not a bad car, but a Miata it most certainly is not. I’d rather have the Miata.
