Or even better, encourage other employers to scout her, or offer her a slot in a training program to better her station in life ...

I’m going to hope it does. Even if they only get a few extra grand, it’s still a huge help to them. Maybe the money could go to food or clothes or utilities. That will be one less thing they have to worry about.

Unless this goes viral big-time, a few extra thousand won’t go far in Brooklyn. What this family really needs is government housing (which they may be waiting for) or help relocating and finding a job in a more affordable area.

I hope their story goes viral too. They’re up to $4,700 so far. I hope they get at least ten times that much.

Just donated and posted on social media. Would love to see this go viral.

I’ve worked in a family shelter. Lots and lots of children live in shelters because our country refuses to adopt policies that support families, children, the working class in general.

Living in a shelter is really depressing. My girls and I went to one for some days because of dv and it is really sad, there was barely food, we had barely money, we did not had a car so we did not have a way to even take them to school, you feel like you are in jail.

I was just on their GoFundMe page and they’re only $900 over their goal. C’mon Jezzies, we can help out. Maybe we can help them go home to an actual home.

Somewhere there’s some little mediocre, cherub-faced ginger child being told by their parents they didn’t make the cut because of three affirmative action cases.

Every child, every person really, deserves to at least have a roof over their head and food on the table. These are basics.

I’ve never donated money using gofundme. Is it pretty safe? I reeeeallly want to send these girls money, but I don’t want to be a chump. I want to make sure they get it. You understand, right?

I know this is supposed to be a feel good story and I am happy for the girls, but I can’t feel any joy. Are they coming back to live at the shelter? I just feel massively uncomfortable that we are expecting these girls (and one as little as 8) to physically work and push their bodies for 7-10 years for an opportunity

I hope with this going viral they will not only get the sisters where they are going short-term, but that enough money is raised to help Mom out of the shelter.

Bravo to these beautiful, talented girls. It is heartbreaking that any child has to be growing up in a shelter, extra infuriating when a working parent is not being paid a living wage. Hopefully the publicity will shame her employer into giving her some paid time off.
