I think the interest is ridiculous but I’m mostly blind to that, given my own situation. If we could have any sort of relief and it’s the elimination/reduction of interest, fine, so be it! They just need to do anything at all.

When they lose they’ll just blame it on the young people and the leftists that they actively despise and make no effort to court. Somehow the only lesson they ever learn is “Maybe we should be more conservative” so they’ll just keep inching right until we don’t even have the illusion of 2 parties.

asking for trouble

The interest is a major issue. I have a former colleague who last time I heard, had $180k in debt for her BA in English. Three years ago, her interest payment was $800 which was what I paid in rent at that time.  Many people will say, “Tough crap, pay what you agreed to pay!” But I think that most people can agree

The joke here is the part where people say we have a two-party political system.

Among the many ways this is such a cruel, unforced error, is that they aren’t even trying to negotiate the debt cancellation. It seems, from a read through Twitter, that plenty of people would find it acceptable if they eliminated the interest/lowered the interest on the loans.

I just stopped by to say that there shouldn’t be any interest charged on government backed student loans. Not now, not ever again. If we can’t have debt free university (like a civilized country) right away, the least we can do is only require students to pay down the principle. This would help a lot of people who are

They don’t want to be in power, just in office. Being in power is the nightmare scenario for a lot of Democrats. They have to work and make changes, and risk ticking off donors if they do. They don’t want to do that. The goal of most Democrat officials is to sit in an office, be given money, and when asked to do

I’m on team North for this one - as I will always be on the team of the child who is doing exactly what has been modeled for them as normal behavior by the adults in their life. I don’t think anyone asked North for a long time if she was okay with being used as a prop on social media - why would she think she needs to

Re: the judgy remarks about Britney Spears’ behavior in the comments, not sure who died and made you all the authority on human behavior, but just FYI, a conservatorship is what California calls a legal guardianship. A guardianship, in most legal situations, is actually very difficult to have assigned to a person.

I’ll never forget or forgive her for what she said to Corey Feldman: “But what you’re saying can damage their careers!” Lady that’s the least of anyone’s problems if they’re raping kids!

And at least when she was in the conservatorship she wasnt running around flashing her bare bum,

Last I checked, showing your ass and exhibiting upsetting behaviour is the standard.

and then at the last minute he never actually gives anyone up except minor players.

Even if you are right, that might partly be because she has been treated like a child for decades.

She’s lived in a bubble sine she was a teenager. She never had anything close to appropriate social interactions throughout most of her life. And she’s directing her anger at real people who caused her real harm. Cut the gal some slack.

Barbara Walters can go jump.

Third. Carrie was number 3.

Sounds like a good strategy. I’m going to try that next time I’m fighting with my husband.

ah yes, secondhand aluminium. You’re not just anti perspiring yourself!
