You don’t have to buy anything from an ad or even click on it for content creators to get paid. Simply having YouTube show ads to viewers brings in ad revenue.

Yup, I’m aware of that. OP was specifically talking about using AD blockers on YouTube, which is what I responded about.

I’ve been using the Internet since 1993 and have never obtained a virus or malware from ads. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but don’t talk about it as if you need to be blocking ads to be safe on the internet.

I’m certain creators will get money from this. YouTube likely calculated the $10 fee by looking at the average amount in dollars a regular YouTube viewer brings in per month. The amount is likely well padded as well, as I doubt most viewers would actually bring in $10 of ad revenue.

I think that ‘most’ is pushing it. Of all the subscriptions I have on YouTube, I think only 3 of them use Patreon and 1 has merchandise. None of the others provide any other method of donation.

Many content creators put their videos there because of the ad revenue they receive, regardless on whether the viewers are specifically shelling out money.

Just because something isn’t illegal doesn’t make it right. By blocking ads, you are actually taking money away from sites and content you’re viewing.

Whether or not I watch commercials on TV channels I pay for has absolutely no impact on revenue to the network or show.

So you don’t believe content creators should be getting paid for their work?I’m guessing you’re one of those people who also believe they’re entitled to pirating music and movies.

Looking forward to the mailman arriving with this today. I’ve had a 6+ year break from Guitar Hero and am looking forward to coming back to it.

You must have a good deal of interference if you can’t be more than 10ft away from your console before the pad disconnects. I can easily go ~30ft away, one floor up, and still be able to play without issue.

This is sadly what the majority of bloggers on the Gawker network do.

I’m really looking forward to Guitar Hero Live. I ended up pre-ordering it for $70Cdn earlier this year (it was on sale for $99 and there was also a 30% off deal for pre-orders), which is a deal I haven’t seen come up since.

At least they’re actually trying new things. I personally extremely enjoy the motion controls on the Wii and the gamepad on the Wii U. They provide a different way to interact with games. It would be nice to see Microsoft and Sony try to be innovative for a change.

I wanted to like Sunset Overdrive, I really did, but I couldn’t get in to it at all. In fact, I actually ended up really disliking the game. The problem for me were the controls and fighting mechanics. I think I got through about half the game (maybe a bit less) before I decided to stop playing.

I pre-ordered the controller on the first day they were available, so I’ll be able to pick it up tomorrow. Trying to decide if I’m actually going to get it though. I think I’m more excited for the Xbox One wireless dongle that comes out in a few weeks.

I had the biggest crush on Paige Davis back in the day.

Not sure what game you were playing this weekend. Battlefront looked absolutely fantastic at 1080P ultra settings on my 55” display.

You realize this is a sponsored post, right? This is likely a term 3M’s marketing team came up with, as it’s bound to get attention and potential boost sales to general consumers. When it comes to marketing, it’s all about what words will sell the product, not which words are technically correct. I’m sure they’ll make

Was it actually good? I heard nothing but bad things about it.
