I had the feeling from the The Autograph Man that she'd be quite good at going speculative. I imagine her writing sci-fi to be similar to Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go which would be awesome.

I read it two years ago and while it was good, it would have been much much better and more important to me if I'd read it at age 11. Reading it now felt for me like "It's The Road Jr."
Your haterade is duly noted.
I like the way you think. That's much better than meatscapes.
I like to assume all the soda and chemically processed food we consume will make for much longer lasting zombies. And by we, I mean me. I'm going to be a great zombie with my cherry coke habit.

Anyone know if Ecstasia is based on the Francesca Lia Block book? I couldn't find anything at the click through but color me thrilled if the answer is yes.
Thank you for reminding me... I was all set to come down here and snark the hell out of the fairy business again but I keep forgetting "This is Alan Ball. There is going to be some sexy horrible gory sexiness really soon."
The Little Mermaid was the last Disney film of my my childhood and had the strongest impact on me as far as bolstering my mermaid love forever. I knew the Hans Christian Anderson version though so my 10/11 year old thought was "They changed the ending? Oh well, I guess that's nice for the 'little kids'."
Except "grittier."
Yes! This! I watched this show religiously as a child.
Girl power.. i'd dig it.
I made the mistake of getting sucked into reading all the books so now it's going to be difficult for me not to constantly say "Well that's not right..." when watching the show.
Thank you. thankyouthankyouthankyou.
Ditto that. I didn't like the back story explaining why Wonka was so creepy either.
Ouch. I used to watch Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in a similar fashion- I always wait for the Max Headroom and Stetson commercials even now.
