Yeah, once they stopped hosting the event at the fairgrounds it became less formal and organized, slowly deteriorating to this. None of my old friends from the vw scene have gone since 2015.

One kid couldn’t comprehend the normal turn and stop exercise, hit half the cones during the weave, and flipped over the handle bars during the quick stop test. I don’t know how those instructors sleep at night knowing they gave that kid a license.

Side and roof strength

Even though off-roading is more popular than ever, the business case for a niche segment vehicle is a tough sell these days. And I think it would probably need to be a true 2 door since the 4runner already out classes the 4 door Wranglers and Broncos when it comes to wheel base.

If you don’t think people are buying 4runners for serious off-roading, you aren’t paying attention. Just like how plenty of Jeep buyers have never seen anything rougher than a gravel driveway.

While that sounds like a good idea, only about a third of vehicle collisions that result in death are head-on collisions.

Toyota has just pushed most of those buyers into more expensive 4runners.
