This actually is not true, at least for the limited models. I tried to order a 911 GT3 and was told ‘no’ because i wasn’t an existing client. For the limited hgh-performance variants dealers get allotments, which they dole out to their favorite customers. That was kind of a shock to me as I thought the same as you.

This might be something to address a gap in the tax code. For instance, in VA after a car depreciates past a certain amt, you no longer pay personal property tax on it. Maybe this is so they get some amt from everyone? I have no idea, but hopefully there is more to the story than just a random tax that doesn’t make…
