It stands the test of time and has been mimicked relentlessly for the past 20 years. I don’t think you can really discount that film’s cultural relevance.
I suppose if overthrowing the system, whatever the hell that means, is your goal then yes that woman is certainly playing into it.
What’s the value in telling a married feminist that getting married isn’t a feminist act?
It’s not how I speak of them, in general I try to avoid stereotyping as much as possible. I only speak of them in that way when a unmarried women acts or speaks in an envious way or as this case with Miss Crispin, one begins to protest too much.
I see the value in those examinations but that’s not what I asked - I asked what is the value of telling a married feminist that getting married isn’t a feminist act? That’s obviously going to hurt the married woman’s feelings. Is the value in hurting that woman’s feelings or is it more about telling the married…
OK, so if you agree that you can be married and be a feminist, what’s the value in pointing out the fact that getting married isn’t a feminist act? It certainly doesn’t make the married woman feel any better, though I suspect it’s exactly how someone like Crispin gets her rocks off.
I was really confused about how she went so hardlined throughout the interview (to the point of calling her sister’s wedding “disgusting”) and then concluded with what amounted to “yeah, go ahead and do whatever you like. Conflicting points of view are fine.”
Couldn’t get a job anywhere else?
Bloggers telling journalists how to do their job - what a time to be alive.
That’s certainly the deadspin line on PK, isn’t it? Just lapping up that kool-aid like a good little boy huh?
You’re definitely obsessed Peter King too. It’s kind of like the dude in high school who went around calling people “faggots” and was the first guy sucking cock freshman year of college.
I don’t know if it’s good, bad, whatever but my insta feed is chock full of women taking photos of themselves in sexually objectifying ways. I don’t know how or if it gets them money, but I’m assuming there’s an ends to their means.
Oddly enough, it’s stayed the same. The bears do not take kindly to change.
I haven’t seen that gag in forever. That was a flashback down memory lane.
I mean, I wasn’t until you gave me the idea.
I think the Grammy’s like acts that are at their core, pop musicians, but have a tiiiiiny bit of an artistic edge to them.
Once we get into the art of actual artists (as opposed to generic pop) it’s all a toss up. There is no standard, it’s just musical opinions and blatherings. It’s the reason certain artist shrug off the Grammy’s completely.
At this point, I’m ready to just give the awards to all black nominees. Like, save everyone the outrage, the blog posts and the criticisms - make it easy - and just give it to them.
What? Verbally abusing hecklers is part of the comedian job description.
